We are seeing

significant growth

in Melbourne’s west.

West of Melbourne is seeing significant growth due to immigration, affordability and access to Melbourne and Geelong via public transport and freeway. Between 2015 and 2016 the City of Wyndham had the largest growth in the area adding 10,072 persons to its population. This is expected to average 10,528 per year by 2036.

The average building approvals for new houses has averaged 3,450 per year from 2014-2016.

Each week there are 194 people moving into the City of Wyndham. The top 5 countries of birth for Wyndham residents are India, United Kingdom, Philippines, China and New Zealand.

The community is growing and infrastructure is occurring as the population increases with schooling, shopping centres, local amenities, sporting fields, walking and cycling tracks, plus transport. This infrastructure expenditure has enabled more jobs in the west.

In the last quarter October to December 2016 Latitude Real Estate found 87% of clients were first home buyers and we are not finding many second home buyers or investors. The average price being between $250,000 to $300,000. It is an economic option for many people who want to get their foot in the door with owning their first home and is a half way mark between Victoria’s two largest cities.
